FACT SHEET
The INOV-JOVEM – Young Executives for Innovation in SMEs is a programme developed within the scope of the Technological Plan; it supports the integration of young people up to 35 years old, with a high level of qualification in critical areas for innovation and business development, within small and medium enterprises.
It provides two types of support:
- Promotion of professional probationary periods, eventually complemented by training, the training grant being co-financed and subsquente hiring stimulated;
- Specific support to the immediate signature of individual employment contract.
- It is addressed to SMEs committed to processes of business development and innovation, especially those aiming at conquering and reinforcing positions within the production of tradable goods and services.
Objectives
INOV-JOVEM objectives are:
- Stimulating the innovation and development process within SMEs;
- Facilitating the integration of young executives in areas capable of developing organisational change and development within SMEs;
- Increasing the technological intensity of SMEs production processes;
- Providing access of young people with a high level of qualification to probationary periods in a real work environment, thus facilitating and promoting their social and professional competences and their integration in active life;
- Favouring a greater articulation between the economic and the education-training systems, by fostering the acknowledgement of new training options and new professional competencies by SMEs, and enhancing new job creation areas.
Structure
INOV-JOVEM is structured around four Measures:
Measure 1 – Probationary Periods
Technical and financial support to the organisation of probationary periods in SMEs.
Measure 2 – Training and Probationary Periods in SMEs
Technical and financial support to practical training projects, involving probationary periods, specialised tutorship and on-site training.
Measure 3 – Support to Integration
Financial support to open-ended employment contracting of young graduates by SMEs with less than 50 employees.
Measure 4 – Support to Employment Projects
Financial support to employment and integration of young graduates by SMEs with less than 250 employees.
Inter-action with PRIME
Measures 2 - Training and Probationary Periods in SMEs –, and 4 – Support to Employment Projects – fall under the framework of PRIME; GGPPRIME (PRIME Management Office) is the Coordinating Body for Measure 2 and IAPMEI (Institute for Support to Small and Medium-Size Enterprises and Investment) is the Coordinating Body for measure 4.
